PLAYA DEL REY, CA — More police patrols are expected this Memorial Day weekend at Dockweiler Beach, the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division announced this week.

"In anticipation of an increased amount of beach visitors over the Memorial Day weekend, the Los Angeles Police Department will be heavily deployed at Venice and Dockweiler Beaches," police said in a statement. "Beach visitors are reminded that drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis in public is prohibited. Officers will conduct strict enforcement to ensure a safe environment for all beach visitors."

Police also asked people to be on the lookout for children who might lose their parents.
