Marina Del Rey Has the Third Highest Rent in L.A.

MARINA DEL REY, CA — It seems like Marina Del Rey residents are paying top dollars for the sunshine tax. Rent in the area is up again, and Marina Del Rey residents pay the third highest rent in the county, according to the latest Los Angeles Rent Report by ApartmentList.com.

According to the report, Marina Del Rey residents pay an average of $3,640 a month for a two-bedroom apartment. The highest rent in the Southland is nearby Venice with $5,200. The second highest is in Westwood with a median rent of $4,200.

Rent in the Los Angeles area rose by 0.5 percent between July and August, according to the report, and are up by 2.6 percent compared to last year.

“Los Angeles renters are generally dissatisfied with the city overall, with most renters giving below average or significantly below average scores across the board,” Apartment List director of data science Andrew Woo said. “With rents rising significantly in coastal cities especially, it comes as no surprise that cost of living is a source of dissatisfaction here.”
