Marina Del Rey Team Wins WTT Nationals Title

The Marina Del Rey-based team "For the Love of the Greg" recently won the 4.0 Division title at the 2019 World TeamTennis Nationals, a tournament concluding the 2019 recreational World TeamTennis season.

The tournament took place on Nov. 1-3, and over 500 players on 68 amateur teams ranging from 26 states competed at the Palm Valley Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif. The team posted a perfect 5-0 record throughout the tournament. See more information below:

• Captained by Robert Rudelius, the team hails from Marina Del Rey, Calif.
• Team Roster: Carlos Dunkerley, Donna Leventhal, Eric Schaefer, Jady Vonderlieth, Michael Rapkin, Michael Walker, Nancy Closson, Robert Rudelius, Sherith Lewis, and Suzy Nyhus
• Posted a perfect 5-0 round robin record throughout the weekend
• Weekend Results:
  • Won their opening match Friday over Icy Hots with a score of 30-13
  • Won their second match on Friday over High Rollers with a score of 31-18
  • Won comfortably 32-16 over Diehards on Saturday morning
  • Won with a score of 29-21 over LOV2PLA on Saturday afternoon
  • Won their final match comfortably on Sunday, beating Early Bird Special 29-18
