MdR Hospital Launches Women’s Minimally Invasive Surgery Institute
May is Women's Health Month.
From Marina Del Rey Hospital:
May is Women’s Health Month, aimed at encouraging women to take simple steps for living a healthier and happier life.
Recognizing the importance of this month in educating and empowering women to take a more active role in their health, Marina Del Rey Hospital, a 145-bed acute care surgical hospital in the Greater Los Angeles area, has announced the creation of the Marina Women’s Minimally Invasive Surgery Institute (MISI) to offer less invasive women’s surgeries and free women’s health seminars in Los Angeles. MISI provides the most innovative, least invasive options for common women’s health issues.

“Data shows that one in four women suffer from prolapse or incontinence, but only 11 to 19 percent get surgery to treat the issue,” said Dr. David Ghozland, a gynecological surgeon at Marina Del Rey Hospital. “We want to educate women living with these conditions and others that treatment is available with shorter recovery times than they may expect. Through MISI, Marina Del Rey Hospital is embarking upon a campaign to educate women that they don’t need to live with painful conditions thanks to our state-of-the-art treatment options.”
The gynecological surgeons of MISI want to support this important awareness month by beginning their mission to educate women about safe options when seeking treatment for common women’s health issues.

MISI surgeons will be participating in the monthly women’s seminars to personally share their knowledge and meet with women considering treatment. The MISI surgeons are highly specialized in minimally invasive techniques, include the use of the da Vinci™ Si system for hysterectomies and other specialty surgeries. The da Vinci Si system used by MISI physicians offers a less invasive alternative option to open hysterectomy, with a faster recovery time for the patient.
The first seminar will take place on May 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Café Del Rey in Marina Del Rey and will be led by Dr. Ghozland. Seats may be reserved by visiting www.misi4you.com or calling 844-MISI-4-YOU (844-647-4496). Women interested in learning more about treatment options, the minimally invasive surgeries offered at Marina Del Rey Hospital, or who would like to meet the surgeons and patients who have personally undergone the procedure, are encouraged to participate in the MISI seminars.
