Parolee Caught After Allegedly Fighting with Sheriff's Deputy in Marina del Rey

A parolee-at-large is arrested after allegedly fighting with a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy in Marina del Rey.

A parolee-at-large allegedly fought with a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy at Mother's Beach on Wednesday and then ran away, but was caught later in a parking garage in Marina del Rey.

The incident occurred about 2:45 p.m. when a deputy contacted a suspicious person at Mother's Beach who started fighting with the deputy and then ran, said Lt. Yvette Christopher of the sheriff's Marina del Rey station.

The Los Angeles Police Department sent officers to help search for the suspect and an LAPD helicopter also was sent up to help find him.

The man was caught a short time later in the parking garage of the Archstone Apartments in the 4100 block of Via Marina.

Neither the suspect nor the deputy suffered any injuries, Christopher said.

The suspect was a parolee-at-large and also had a weapons charge against him, Christopher said. The man was being booked into the sheriff's jail in Marina del Rey and likely would face a charge of assault on a police officer, Christopher said.
