Police Blotter: Thieves Steal Rings and Watches

The following information was supplied by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Marina del Rey station.

The crime theme in and near Marina del Rey in recent weeks continues to be theft, as these accounts demonstrate. All the crimes occurred within the patrol area of the Marina del Rey Sheriff's Station.

Vintage Rings Stolen

Someone stole a jewelry box from the dresser of a woman's bedroom that held two vintage, white gold, size-6 rings worth a combined $4,000, according a sheriff deputy's report.

The woman called deputies about 9:30 p.m. on July 14 immediately after she noticed her jewelry box was missing, a report said. The woman reported leaving her home early that morning and said her boyfriend left about 8 a.m. She said she returned about 6:30 p.m. and saw the jewelry box the day before, the report said.

Deputies said there were no signs of forced entry and they noticed an empty spot on the dresser where the jewelry box once was.

The woman said only her boyfriend and cat sitter have keys to the apartment.

No arrest was made.

The Sleeping Burglar

A burglar stole a men's Rolex silver and gold watch worth $4,500 while the victim was sleeping, according to a sheriff deputy's report.

The burglary took place sometime between 11:30 p.m. June 24 and 10 a.m. on June 25, the report said. The victim said the Rolex, a $10 watch and some keys were taken from the desk of his office while he was sleeping.

No arrest was made.
