Sunny Afternoons, Councils Set Budgets and No Haunted House

Forecasters with the National Weather Service say we should expect patchy fog in the mornings and sunny skies in the afternoons with temperatures in the low 70s all week.

Today is July 26. It is the 207th day of the year. We are under a waning crescent moon. Sunset will occur about 8:01 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 72 degrees with patchy fog after 11 p.m. and an overnight low around 62 degrees. Forecasters expect patchy fog Wednesday morning that will gradually clear to sunny wtih a high near 70 degrees.

2. The neighborhood councils covering Del Rey and Playa del Rey recently approved their budgets for the fiscal year starting July 1 that reflect a 10 percent decrease in funding from the city. Details right here.

3. If you were planning on taking the children out to the Haunted House at Burton W. Chace Park in Marina del Rey this Halloween, you'll need new plans. The event was removed from this year's budget due to financial constraints, a spokeswoman for the county's Department of Beaches and Harbors says.
