Sunny Skies, Killer Shrimp and Verifying Rembrandt
Locals' favorite Killer Shrimp officially returns to Marina del Rey today after a three-year absence.

Today is Sept. 1. It is the 244th day of the year. We are under a waxing crescent moon. Sunset will occur about 7:21 p.m. Here are five things to know:
1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 71 degrees with clear skies tonight and an overnight low around 62 degrees. Forecasters expect a clear, sunny day Friday with a high near 71 degrees.
Also, the high surf advisory issued by the National Weather Service remains in effect until Friday at 5 p.m. with breakers up to 11-feet expected at some south and south-west facing beaches. The advisory also cautions of strong rip currents.
2. Killer Shrimp is back. The locals' favorite officially returns today after a three-year absence with a new location at 4211 Admiralty Way, an expanded menu and a full bar. We're looking forward to checking this out. Check out Killer Shrimp's Facebook page, too.
3. Boating columnist Paul M.J. Suchecki continues his look at area yacht clubs with a column on the Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club, its origins and amenities. Details right here.
4. Remember that drawing by Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn that was stolen from the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey last month? Turns out the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department hasn't been able to verify its authenticity or ownership. Details right here.
