Sunny Skies, Youth Sailing and Property Crimes
The National Weather Service forecast calls for sunny afternoons this week with temperatures getting increasingly hotter toward Independence Day.

Today is June 28. It is the 179th day of the year. We are under a waning crescent moon. Sunset will occur about 8:10 p.m. Here are five things to know:
1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 70 degrees with patchy fog after 11 p.m. and an overnight low around 62 degrees. Patchy fog is expected Wednesday morning with a sunny afternoon and a high near 68 degrees. The extended forecast calls for temperatures to rise throughout the week with a high of about 75 degrees on Independence Day.
2. Boating columnist Paul M.J. Suchecki in his latest article takes a look at Fairwind Yacht Club and its youth sailing program in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club of Venice. More details right here.
3. Our police blotter this week continues to focus on the theme of property crime within the jurisdiction of the Marina del Rey sheriff's station. Jewelry, steel anchors and fishing rods and reels were among the items stolen. More details right here.
