Two Film Festivals Coming to Marina Del Rey this Weekend

The Silicon Beach and Playa Del Rey film festivals are running back-to-back in a 12-hour marathon Saturday.

MARINA DEL REY, CA -- The inaugural Silicon Beach Film Festival is coming to Marina Del Rey and it's opening this weekend.

The festival, in conjunction with the Playa Vista Film Festival, opens at 11 a.m. Saturday with a red-carpet premiere at Beach Dancer Films headquarters, 3401 Pacific Ave., in Marina Del Rey.

The festival will run back-to-back with films being shown in a 12-hour marathon session. Festival programmer Peter Greene promises there will be something for everyone.

Both festivals are in their inaugural year and were conceived to be a venue for independent films to gain exposure and serve as a gathering place for "filmmakers, artists, innovators and the global creative community."

"Silicon Beach and Playa Vista has become one of the largest technology hubs in the world. And offers Independent Filmmakers a great venue to screen in Los Angeles, ” Silicon Beach Film Festival director Jon Gursha said.

Both Greene and Gursha are behind the team that also runs the Marina Del Rey and Culver City film festivals.
