14 Martinez Businesses Join Outdoor Dining/Retail Program

An economic initiative launched by the city in June allows merchants to spread out during specified days and times.

MARTINEZ – The city of Martinez has approved permits for several more downtown businesses to offer outdoor dining and retail services.

Effective Thursday, the following downtown businesses all have permits to operate on portions of sidewalks, streets and parking lots: Bar Cava, Barrelista, Copper Skillet, Del Cielo, Five Suns, Lavender Moon Interiors, Mighty Market, Lemongrass, Nu Rays, Roxx on Main, Taco Daddy, Troy Greek Cuisine, and Whiskey Lane.

Cue & Brew, which is located outside of downtown at 1029 Arnold Drive, has also received a permit to operate outdoors, the city said Thursday.

The permits are part of an economic initiative the city launched June 12, allowing merchants to "spread out" during specified days and times so they can serve more customers and offer more services.

Businesses wishing to participate in the outdoor program can submit a no-fee application through the city's website. Questions about the downtown program can be emailed to zseal@cityofmartinez.org. Questions about private property applications can be sent to mkavanaugh-lynch@cityofmartinez.org.

The city also created 26 downtown curbside pickup spaces in 16 locations. The 20-minute pickup spaces shown in the map below make it easy and convenient for residents and visitors to pick up to-go food and retail goods from downtown Martinez businesses.

Important Outdoor Downtown Program Reminders

According to the Martinez Police Department:

  • Do not park or drive your car in any areas or parking spaces that are blocked off with a barricade(s) or marked with “No Parking” sign(s)
  • Do not move city barricades in the public right-of-way
  • Members of the public are responsible for following the state and county regulations for masks and social distancing when engaged in outdoor activities
  • Do not move the chairs and tables or other items provided by the participating businesses.
  • Do not bring your own chairs or other furniture for use on the sidewalk or in the street.
