2 More Trees Deemed Hazards, Set For Removal In Downtown Martinez

Six other trees considered to be public hazards were recently removed from the 800 block of Main Street, the city said.

MARTINEZ, CA —Two more downtown trees deemed to be safety hazards were scheduled to be removed Monday and Tuesday, the City of Martinez's Public Works Department said.

On Monday, a large tree was slated for removal from in front of 736 Main St.; the 700 block of Main Street was closed to accommodate that work.

Then on Tuesday, another tree will be removed from the 500 block of Ferry Street, between Estudillo and Marina Vista. Partial street closures are expected to be in effect from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day.

Six other trees considered to be public hazards were recently removed from the 800 block of Main Street, the city said. Future planned tree removals and tree replantings will be announced in advance as they are determined and scheduled.

The city is asking Martinez residents to complete a survey to help determine preferred tree options for the new replanting phase.
