CONTRA COSTA COUNTY - You can almost smell the sizzling hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill as you think about the upcoming long Fourth of July weekend.
Cities in Contra Costa County are preparing to host a wide variety of fun events from parades and fireworks to live music and festivals in celebration of the 4th of July.
Personal fireworks are illegal in the county, including safe-and-sane fireworks allowed in other nearby counties, according to a California website that monitors county-by-county laws.

Antioch 4th of July Fireworks & All Day Festival -
Antioch's 4th of July Parade starts at 11:30 a.m. - Car show, live music all day, carnival rides, and kids games. Fireworks at dusk! A day-long event.
Clayton 4th of July – Pancake Breakfast and Parade
Downtown Clayton’s 2016 Fourth of July Parade “Hats Off to Clayton!”
7:00 am Clayton Valley Sunrise Rotary pancake breakfast at Endeavor Hall (6008 Center Street).
$5.00 adults and $3.00 kids 12 and under.
Parade on Main Street at 10:00 a.m., beginning at Center and Oak Streets.
For parade entry information contact Sandy Johnson at 693-0463, no application required for kiddie parade entries. Main parade application can be downloaded at www.ci.clayton.ca.us.
4th of July - Celebrate Concord
Concord Police Association 2016 Stars and Stripes 5K Run and Walk/Fun Run at 8:30 a.m.
25th Anniversary Independence Day Parade at 10:00 a.m.
Starting at 4:00 p.m. the gates at Mt. Diablo High School will open for the 3rd Annual 4th of July Festival with a kids carnival, food booths, vendor exhibits, and live entertainment on stage. Then, at 9:00 p.m., the day will be concluded with a fireworks display that will not disappoint.
Martinez Fourth of July Fireworks
Fireworks will light up the night at Martinez Shoreline Park, Monday, July 4, 2016. Join the crowd at the Waterfront or head over to your special viewing spot before 9:15 p.m. Pyrotechnics begin around 9:30 p.m. and will last approximately twenty-five minutes. Waterfront Park will be closed to cars at 6 p.m. Limited Handicapped Parking is available, so arrive earlier in the day.
Please pack out your garbage or place it in the receptacles provided. Fireworks are provided by the City of Martinez with assistance from East Bay Regional Park District. A special thanks to Republic Services and Shell Oil for their support.
Orinda 4TH OF JULY PARADE and Celebration
Parade at 10 a.m., Pancake Breakfast at 7:30 a.m., flag raising ceremony, live music games and more!
Pittsburg Waterfront - 4th Of July Fireworks Display
Independence Day Fireworks - Pittsburg’s waterfront fireworks display returns again this year for family fun.
Please take public transportation to the Pittsburg Marina so you don’t have to fight traffic before or after the event.
Fireworks begin after sunset.
“Independence Day the Pleasant Hill Way” at the Fourth of July Celebration
Firecracker 5K Fun Run ! at 8:00 a.m.; Parade at 9:30 a.m.; Fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
