Holiday Drop-Off Recycle Collection

Ever notice you have accumulated way too much packaging material during the holidays? Good news, you're not alone, and if you are a Martinez resident, Republic Services and the City of Martinez are partnering on a free new drop-off recycling collection program after the holidays to give you an opportunity to recycle the following packaging items:

  • Cardboard
  • Styrofoam (blocks only, no “peanuts”)
  • Shipping plastic bags/air pillows

On Saturday, January 11th, Republic Services will staff special recycling drop-off collections for Martinez residents at two locations throughout Martinez, as listed below:

  • Saturday, 1/11/20: 9 a.m. - noon at Hidden Valley Park (Redwood Drive and Center Avenue)
  • Saturday, 1/11/20: 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Martinez Yacht Club Parking Lot (111 Tarantino Drive)

Participants must show identification demonstrating a Martinez residence, similar to the process for the free compost giveaways held twice each year. Including Styrofoam in these special collections is particularly significant, since these materials do not have a viable market to support recycling through the curbside collection process. Please ensure all materials are clean to avoid contamination. Styrofoam packaging cannot be accepted if it has been contaminated through direct contact with unpackaged food.
