Contra Costa Nonprofit Needs Volunteers to Pick Up, Deliver Food for Needy
The all-volunteer White Pony Express works to end hunger and poverty in area. "Dispatch' volunteer work can be done from home, too!

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA —This holiday season, the award-winning and all-volunteer White Pony Express (WPE) needs your help to help carry out its mission of helping to end hunger and poverty in Contra Costa County.
WPE rescues high-quality, fresh food and delivers it to nonprofits who feed the hungry in our county, usually within two-hours of the donation — all free of charge.
This fresh and nutritious food would normally be destined for the landfill (creating methane gas), due to sell by dates, space constraints for the stores, or produce aesthetics.

In addition, WPE has a second program which distributes surplus new or like new clothing, toys, or books for those in need.

Currently, there is a need for drivers to pick up and deliver food, people who can assist with morning distributions, and dispatchers (which can be done from home).
