Highway 21: The Farm Road That Became An Interstate

Local historians give an illustrated talk about events that characterized life along former CA State Hwy 21.

The Contra Costa County Historical Society invites you to a history talk and book signing on Saturday, June 16th. Local historians John Mercurio and Steve Minniear present an illustrated talk about the fascinating events that characterized life along former CA State Highway 21.

This key route in the East Bay followed the path of what is now “the Boulevards” - from Pacheco Boulevard in Martinez, snaking its way down along today’s North and South Main Street in Walnut Creek, through the Alamo orchards on Danville Boulevard then continuing on through the small hamlet of Danville. South of Danville it became San Ramon Valley Boulevard running through San Ramon to Dublin and terminating in Sunol as Foothill Road. By 1964, Interstate 680 replaced Highway 21 tossing it into the dustbin of history.

WHEN: Saturday, June 16, 2018 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm. Intermission included.
