Martinez Native Named Contra Costa Water District General Manager

CONCORD, CA — The Contra Costa Water District Board of Directors at its meeting in Concord on Wednesday unanimously approved Steve Welch as the district's new general manager. Welch, a Martinez native with more than 30 years in the water industry, was a CCWD assistant general manager and will assume his new role on Dec. 2.

"CCWD has a strong workforce in place and the board is confident that Steve will lead the team to many future successes," board president Lisa Borba said.

Welch currently oversees the district's Engineering, Watershed & Lands, and Operations and Maintenance divisions.

He will replace Jerry Brown, who had been general manager since 2010 but announced last month that he was stepping down from the position.
