Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Truck In Martinez
The fatal collision was on Pacheco Boulevard at Wygal Drive, the California Highway Patrol said.
MARTINEZ, CA — A Martinez resident was hit and killed by a pickup truck Thursday on Pacheco Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol said.
The CHP was advised at 5:18 p.m. that a pedestrian had been struck by a Chevrolet truck on Pacheco at Wygal Drive.
Emergency personnel pronounced the pedestrian, a 28-year-old Martinez woman, dead at the scene.

The woman driving the truck was not injured and stayed at the scene. She was cooperative throughout the investigation, the CHP said.
CHP's initial investigation indicated the pedestrian was not in a designated crosswalk when for unknown reasons she walked onto Pacheco Boulevard into the lanes of traffic.

The woman in the truck was driving eastbound on Pacheco and by the time she saw the pedestrian, who was in the same lane directly ahead of her, she was not able to avoid the collision, the CHP said.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff-Coroner's Office was expected to release the identity of the pedestrian once her family members were properly notified.
The incident was still under investigation Thursday night. If anyone witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it, they are asked to contact Contra Costa CHP in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
