Smoke, Fire Reported At Highway 4, I-680 In Martinez

The connector ramp to southbound Interstate Highway 680 was blocked by the blaze, CHP reported.

MARTINEZ, CA — A fire late Thursday morning along eastbound state Highway 4 in Martinez shut down the connector ramp to southbound Interstate Highway 680, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Fire officials notified the CHP at 11:12 a.m. they were investigating a large amount of smoke in the area.

At 11:22 a.m., CHP dispatchers said the fire was blocking the ramp.

Motorists were advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes to avoid the area, according to 511SFBay.org

There was no estimated time to reopen the roadway.
