Tour Alhambra Cemetery Today or April 18

Places are still available for an Alhambra Cemetery tour today (Tuesday) designed to enlighten, not frighten!

Credit for that pun goes to the city announcement of daytime tours with insight into Martinez history, from 10 to noon Tuesday and 10 to noon Thursday, April 18.

A tour guide will fill you in on "local war heroes, personalities, politicians and a most creative caretaker," according to the city of Martinez website. You are asked to sign up for a place in the tours at the city recreation department at 372-3510.

Donations go to cemetery improvements and the Martinez Historical Society.

Tours will meet at the cemetery entrance. "They can't miss the woman all in black," said Patty Lorick, city recreation supervisor.
