Vegetation Fire Contained in Martinez

Homes were threatened by the blaze but firefighters quickly contained it with no damage to nearby houses.

Quick work by Contra Costa firefighters prevented vegetation fires from spreading to nearby homes in both Martinez and El Sobrante tonight, fire officials said.

One fire was reported at 4858 Appian Way in El Sobrante. The fire was burning about 1 acre along a steep slope, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

Homes were threatened by the blaze but firefighters quickly contained it with no damage to the houses.

Another fire in Martinez on Trailview Circle prompted a second alarm response, but fire crews contained it to 2 acres with no damage to nearby homes, fire officials said.
