Woman Fatally Struck By Train In Martinez Identified
The fatal incident happened Saturday in an area that did not have a railroad crossing, authorities said.
MARTINEZ, CA — The Contra Costa County coroner's office has identified a woman fatally struck by a freight train Saturday evening in Martinez as Liliana Alam, 32. Alam, a Martinez resident, was struck on a BNSF Railway track around 6:20 p.m. in an area that did not have a railroad crossing.
The death stopped train traffic between Stockton and Richmond as investigators evaluated the scene, but did not cause delays for commuters as there are no passenger trains on that route.
