Facebook Developing TV Device Named Ripley
The television device that combines streaming with video chat is supposedly based on some of the same technology as Facebook's new Portal.
MENLO PARK, CA -- With no apologies to Sigourney Weaver, Facebook has named its latest innovation "Ripley" -- but there shouldn't be anything alien about the social media giant delving into a television device that combines livestreaming with video chatting.
Ripley is reportedly being developed with technology from Facebook's latest invention -- its recently unveiled Portal smart display, Variety reported, adding it is expected to be released in the spring of 2019.
