Man Arrested For Child Porn Delays Trial
Menlo Park man had custody of young daughter on the days it was downloaded.

One of the men arrested during a in Menlo Park went to court Thursday to extend the amount of time that his case will take to resolve.
Charles Vela Reyes Jr, 47, was arrested at his home in Menlo Park on March 22 for possessing images and information depicting sexual conduct of persons under 18, according to Assistant District Attorney Albert Serrato. Serrato would not disclose how much was contained on the laptop.
Reyes’ ex wife reportedly left their daughter with him when she went out of town on business. The dates that he downloaded the pornography were the dates their child was in his care, said Deputy District Attorney Sin-Mee Chang.
Reyes’ attorney asked for more time to enter his plea on Thursday. The courts granted it. If convicted, he could be sentenced with either a year of probation, up to three years in prison, or one year in county jail, along with a fine of up to $2,500. He will go to court again on May 3.
