Meet Sacred Heart Prep's Quarterback Mason Randall

The stellar quarterback, who dreams of eventually being a college football coach, turned 17 today.

Mason Randall is your typical jeans, T-shirt and sneakers-wearing teen whose 17th birthday happens to be today.

So Mason’s father, attorney Jeff Randall, last weekend took the Sacred Heart Prep quarterback shopping to rev up the wardrobe a bit. The football part he has down pat, having led the Gators (8-0 overall, 3-0 league) in Friday’s 7 p.m. showdown at Burlingame (8-0, 4-0) in a pivotal PAL-Bay game.

The junior has a 158.1 quarterback rating, 3.3 grade point average, completes 57 percent of his passes, has thrown for 1,265 yards with 11 touchdowns and one interception. In short, he’s stellar. But not so much sartorially speaking.

“He’s happy in tennis shoes and T-shirts and I just wanted him to take one step up — not to dress clothes, but to just something a little nicer,” Jeff said. “I just don’t want him to be a complete jock; I want him to dress like a young man. Hoodies can only go so far.”

John Murphy of Prep2Prep.com has the full rundown on the birthday boy, his football exploits and his fashion challenges which can be read HERE.
