Have a safe holiday!

Picking the Tree

  • Choose a tree with fresh, green needles.
  • Cut 2 inches from the base of the trunk
  • Make sure tree is at least 3 feet away from any heat source
  • Make sure tree is not blocking an exit
  • Add water to tree stand daily

Lighting the Tree

  • Use lights that have the label of a recognized testing laboratory.
  • Never use any string of lights with worn or broken cords.
  • Always turn off Christmas tree light before leaving home or going to bed.

Candles

  • Never leave a burning candles alone.
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.

Test your smoke alarms.

Get rid of the tree after Christmas or when it is dry. Dried-out trees are a fire danger and should not be left in home or garage.
