SILICON VALLEY, CA -- Mountain View Police arrested a man early Wednesday morning after he allegedly attempted to touch a woman showering at a 24 Hour Fitness, and detectives say there may be more victims around the Peninsula area.

Around 3:15 a.m. on Aug. 28, officers responded to reports of an attempted sexual assault in the women’s locker room at the gym, located on the 500 block of Showers Drive. When officers arrived, they spoke with a woman who stated she was in the shower when a man walked into the locker room and tried to open the door to the shower she was using.

The woman then told officers that as she spoke to the suspect to try and stop him from coming in, the man changed the pitch of his voice in an attempt to sound more feminine. The man then was able to open the shower door, and the woman told police he reached in to try and touch her. The woman said she screamed and began to hit the man.

The victim then stated the suspect walked out of the locker room, and as he was leaving, 24 Hour Fitness employees confronted him and then called police. The man left the gym before MVPD arrived, but one of the officers responding to the call spotted a person matching the suspect description a short distance away in the parking lot near Walmart, also on Showers Drive.

That man was detained, and subsequently identified as 41-year-old transient Damon Quincy Jones.

"During the course of our investigation, we learned that Jones had also been engaged in lewd acts in the women’s locker room at the 24 Hour Fitness Super Sport, located just around the corner on the 2000 block of California Street, just prior to this incident," the MVPD said in a statement. "However, at the time, we were not called to respond to that incident."

Jones was arrested for assault with the intent to commit a sex crime, burglary, and lewd conduct in public.

Based on these two incidents, police believe there may be additional victims that Jones may have targeted. Jones is known to frequent Menlo Park, Mountain View, and Fremont. He also is known to frequent the states of Washington and Illinois.

Anyone who may be a victim of Jones, or knows someone who may be a victim of Jones, is asked to reach out to Detective Robert Medina at robert.medina@mountainview.gov.
