Pop-up Bike Lane To Be Set Up In Menlo Park
As a preview to the permanent route, the city will make the temporary extension open to the public from Hamilton Ave. to the rail tracks.
MENLO PARK, CA — There are pop-up kitchens and pop-up parties inspired the old pick-up basketball games — but a pop-up bike lane appears ahead of its time.
That's what the city of Menlo Park plans to do as a bike lane extension on Chilco Street Oct. 2 for three days as part of the Safe Routes to School program. The temporary bike lane between Hamilton Avenue and the railroad tracks will provide a vision of the new street design. City staff expects to install the permanent bike lane by the end of the year to connect with:
- The Belle Haven neighborhood
- Bedwell Bayfront Park and other recreation/open space areas near San Francisco Bay
- The Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge
- TIDE Academy High School on Jefferson Drive
- Other destinations in the Bayfront area
City staff will be on site the first day during both morning and after school times to answer questions and hear feedback. A pop-up Chilco Bike Lane information booth will also be there from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and from 3:30 to 5 p.m
