The state's unemployment rate decreased slightly last month while many Bay Area counties saw slight spikes in unemployment numbers, according to the most recent report by California employment officials.
In June, California had a 10.7 percent unemployment rate, down from May's 10.8 rate, according to the state Employment Development Department. Marin County, with the lowest jobless rate in the state, bumped up to a 6.6 percent unemployment rate from 6.3 percent in May. Also in the Bay Area, San Francisco's rate reached 7.8 percent from 7.4 percent in May.
The highest Bay Area unemployment rate was in Solano County with 10.5 percent. This is up from 10.1 percent unemployed in May. The national jobless rate was unchanged in June at 8.2 percent. The state's unemployment rate is derived from a federal survey of 5,500 households around California.
