Stranger Shoots Dog ‘For No Apparent Reason’ In Menlo Park
Police are searching for a man who they say rode his bike past a Menlo Park home and shot a dog in the yard, in a seemingly random attack.
MENLO PARK, CA — A suspect is at large who shot a stranger's dog in the yard of a Menlo Park home for "no apparent reason," police said Monday.
Police responded around 8:38 p.m. Friday to a report of gunfire on the 1100 block of Hollyburne Avenue. Officers found a dog suffering from a gunshot wound, being tended to by the owner.
According to the owner, a Hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s rode by the home on a dark-colored mountain bike. The man noticed the dog, stopped his bike, pulled out a handgun, loaded it and fired one shot at the dog, police said.
