Summer Vibe Art Contest at Menlo Summerfest...this is the new #MenloSummerfest
Say hello to a vibrant new Menlo Summerfest, "Hot Fun In The Summertime", coming up July 16-17 on Santa Cruz Avenue in downtown Menlo Park!
The new Summer Vibe art contest is one of the many new features of the all-new Menlo Summerfest, coming up July 16-17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Santa Cruz Avenue in Menlo Park.
The contest is open to all of the talented artists participating in this this year’s festival.
Artists are asked to express their own, signature summer vibe for the chance to win a $300 first prize or $200 second prize. Two first place and two second place prizes will be awarded in fine arts and crafts categories. The contest is sponsored by the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce.

“Each artisan will have an opportunity to take part in the contest and translate via their medium what Summer Vibe means to them,” explained Director of Pacific Fine Arts Festivals Dana Hale-Mounier. “Painters might portray a relaxing beach scene, while a clothing designer might construct a billowy dress for a leisurely summer date. A glass jeweler might blow colorful beads into a whimsical necklace.”
Artists will be asked for detailed descriptions of their work, explaining what “summer vibe” means to them and how they translate that through their specific mediums. Participants will display their artwork in their booths for judging on Saturday morning, and it will be available for sale to the public.

“We noodled ideas in-house and looked at other national events for a starting point concept we could develop into our own,” Hale-Mounier noted. “The contest’s final details crystalized after we solicited input from some of our artist friends. We’re thrilled that Menlo Park Chamber has encouraged this contest and is generously sponsoring the monetary awards. Handcrafted ribbons will be included with the two main awards, and there also will be honorable mention awards.”
Hale-Mounier is excited about the new contest, and expects it to enrich Menlo Summerfest. “This festival is a such a fantastic, family-oriented event with summer fun for everyone,” she said. “It’s special for many reasons…the community to which it is presented, their enthusiastic support, the intimate feeling of Santa Cruz Avenue, the wonderful venue of the tree-lined streets downtown, and the wide variety of merchants.”
