Who Loves A Parade? Hopefully Menlo Park's Football Fans

The city has scheduled a parade and celebration on Jan. 12 to honor its high school football team for winning the state title, its first.

MENLO PARK, CA -- The city plans to put on the pomp and circumstance with a parade Jan. 12 to celebrate its own AA State Champion Menlo-Atherton Bears. The football team representing 2,400 high school students in Division 3 competes with 13 others for the state title.

Parade route details will be determined later. It will tentatively start at 9 .m.

"The city of Menlo Park couldn’t be more proud of our state champions -- the Menlo-Atherton Bears. In discussing it with the high school, we agreed what better way to celebrate the football team’s first ever state championship, than with a parade," Mayor Ray Mueller said. "What an opportunity to come together, celebrate their achievement, build community and have good old-fashioned fun. We invite all Menlo Park residents to join us for the festivities.”

Indeed, Mueller was joined by the team's Athletic Director Paul Snow.

"We are so proud of what this team has accomplished, from the daily study halls to the hard-fought games and practices that they have taken part in since May, really, when spring workouts began," Snow told Patch.
