This Independence Day, please remember that all fireworks are illegal to possess, sell or use in Millbrae and in the unincorporated areas of San Mateo County. This includes fireworks labeled “safe and sane,” such as sparklers, fountains, snakes and smoke balls.

The San Mateo Sheriff’s Office - Millbrae Police Bureau will strictly enforce the fireworks prohibition and monitor for illegal discharges.

Violators of the law can now be punished with a misdemeanor, a fine of $1,000 or more, and up to six months in jail.
