Millbrae City Council Meeting Recap For Jan. 28

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the Millbrae City Council and the Millbrae Community Foundation presented commendations to Stella Baltasar and Samantha Lam. Stella and Samantha volunteered their time last year to paint more than 100 personalized stars for the annual Millbrae Holiday Tree Lighting event. Their efforts helped raise more than $10,000 for the Millbrae Community Foundation.

The City Council approved, with a vote of 4-0, items 6 and 7 on the consent calendar. Item 5 was removed for further discussion.

Item 6 - Resolution authorizing the City Manager or designee to execute a second amendment to the professional service agreement with New City America for work related to the formation of a community benefit district in downtown.

Item 7 - Resolution accepting the 2019 Pavement Maintenance Project as complete and filing of notice of completion.

Following Council comments, the City Council approved, with a vote of 4-0, Item 5 - Adopt a resolution waiving the competitive procurement process and authorizing the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with Ghirardelli Associates for construction management and construction inspection services for the Gateway at Millbrae Station Project (TOD#2) in an amount not-to-exceed $900,000.

Under new business, the City Council received presentations from the Sister Cities Commission (Item 11) and the Senior Advisory Committee (Item 12), and approved, by a vote of 4-0, their fiscal year 2019-2020 work plans.

Under existing business, the City Council approved, with a vote of 4-0, art from Mills High School student Katherine Liu and Capuchino High School student Isabella Solano for the Cultural Arts Advisory Committee ‘s Utility Box Painting Program (Item 8).

Under existing business, the City Council approved, with a vote of 4-0, Item 9 - Re-affirm the City of Millbrae’s position opposing Senate Bill 50 and authorize the submission of the Mayor's opposition letter.

Under existing business, the City Council received an informational update on the Millbrae Recreation Center Restoration Project (Item 10).
