Millbrae Sheriff's Sweep Nets 297 Citations
This effort was the first of several planned traffic patrols that authorities will conduct in San Mateo County this year.
MILLBRAE, CA — A traffic patrol by the San Mateo County Sheriff's office on Tuesday resulted in nearly 300 citations given to area drivers, authorities said.
The patrol, based in Burlingame and Millbrae, focused on traffic education and enforcement, the sheriff's office said. It involved 27 traffic officers from various law enforcement agencies in the county.
Police made more than 325 stops and issued 297 citations for the following offenses:

- 89 citations for cell phone violations
- 57 citations for failing to stop at a stop sign
- 40 citations for speeding
- 32 citations for failing to obey a posted sign
- 19 citations for unsafe passing
- 16 citations for driving in a bike lane
- 14 citations for seat belt violations
- 12 citations for failing to yield to a pedestrian
- 8 citations for miscellaneous violations
- 5 citations for red light violations
- 3 citations for driving without a license
- 2 citations for driving with a suspended license
This patrol was the first of several planned saturation patrols that authorities will conduct in San Mateo County this year, the sheriff's office said.
