Pine Appoints Jorge Laguna to County Parks Commission
Resident of the San Mateo Highlands to Represent County Supervisorial District 1
REDWOOD CITY – San Mateo County Supervisor Dave Pine is pleased to announce that he has appointed San Mateo Highlands resident Jorge Laguna to the San Mateo County Parks Commission.
The Parks Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors and the Parks Department and makes policy recommendations regarding the management and operation of the County’s natural preserves, open space areas, trails, parks, recreation areas and park facilities within unincorporated San Mateo County.
“San Mateo County owns and operates a spectacular and diverse portfolio of parks that includes neighborhood parks, recreational areas, trails, and majestic open spaces and natural preserves,” said Supervisor Dave Pine. “I have great confidence that Mr. Laguna will be a dedicated steward of our parks and identify ways to continue improving the park experience for our residents and visitors alike.”

Mr. Laguna currently serves as the head of Digital Analytics at Adobe Systems and has spent over 15 years working in high-tech in Silicon Valley. A longtime resident of San Mateo County, Mr. Laguna enjoys hiking and backpacking and is involved in San Mateo youth recreation as a coach and volunteer for local sports leagues. Mr. Laguna holds an MBA in information technology management from the University of California, Irvine and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles. Since 2016, Mr. Laguna has served on the San Mateo County Parks Foundation Board of Directors that raises funds for San Mateo County Parks’ facilities and programs.
“I am honored to have been appointed to the San Mateo County Parks Commission,” said Laguna. “I am excited to bring my professional skills and intimate knowledge of our parks system to the commission to help improve and enhance our facilities and invite and entice local residents and visitors alike to experience our parks – one of our local best ideas.”

The San Mateo County Parks Commission meets bimonthly. The term is for four years representing the Supervisorial District 1 communities of the San Mateo Highlands, Burlingame, Burlingame Hills, Hillsborough, Millbrae, and portions of San Bruno and South San Francisco. The commission appointment is uncompensated.
