San Mateo County Sheriff Warns Of By-Phone And In-Person Scams
The San Mateo County Sheriff is alerting the public about ongoing scams via phone and in person that involve PG&E and the Census Bureau.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA -- The San Mateo County Sheriff's Department's Millbrae Police Bureau is alerting the public about recent scams via phone and in person.
"We have been made aware of ongoing scams where the suspect pretends to be from PGE demanding payment via a Greendot card, various solar scams, and the most recent one, where the suspect claims to be from the Census Bureau asking for sensitive information or money," the Police Bureau said in a statement.
Potential victims are asked by authorities to trust their instincts in such cases.

"If what you are hearing does not sound or feel right, simply hang up the phone, or disengage from the person talking to you. Then call us," the Police Bureau advises.
