Air Quality Expected To Be Good Thursday, Friday In Bay Area

MILL VALLEY, CA – Air quality on Thursday and Friday is expected to improve, according to the The Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

Winds coming onshore helped to push smoke out of the area on Wednesday and air quality is expected to be in the good to moderate range, officials said. It is not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard.

Officials advise residents that if the smell of smoke is present, they should protect their health by avoiding exposure. If it is possible, stay indoors with windows and doors closed until smoke levels subside. Those who are impacted by smoke are advised to set their air conditioning unites and car ventilation systems to re-circulate to prevent outside air from coming inside.

Smoke exposure can cause eye irritation and airway irritation, as well as coughing, scratchy throat and irritated sinuses. Elderly people, children and people with respiratory illnesses are particularly susceptible and should take extra precautions.
