MARIN COUNTY -- The Federal Highway Administration has announced the dates of pre-construction closures of the Baker-Barry Tunnel that are needed for pre-project inspections.
The tunnel, which is a primary route to the Marin Headlands in Golden Gate National Recreation Area, will close:
- Monday, Dec. 5, noon to 4 pm;
- Tuesday, Dec. 6, 8:30 am to 4 pm;
- Wednesday, Dec. 7, 8:30 am to 4 pm.
The County of Marin says the temporary closures are expected to allow crews to prepare for the previously announced extended preservation project that begins Monday, Jan. 2. Under the extended project, the tunnel will be closed seven days a week through early May to all users, including vehicles and bicycles, the Sheriff's Office.
