Home Burglaries Abound, Credit Card Fraud and a Sketchy Guy at a Gas Station

Sept. 3

1:15 p.m. – A resident called police from Camino Alto and Sycamore Ave., saying that another driver had just left the gas station nearby and smelled like alcohol when they walked past one another. The resident said the driver and the passenger both “looked sketchy.” The caller seemed confused, police reported.

Sept. 4

9:51 a.m. – An employee at the Mill Valley Community Center reported that two windows in the swimming pool building were broken over night. Nothing was taken. Police determined that the incident was related to the reports of vandalism at Mill Valley Middle School over the weekend, when rocks were thrown at the school’s windows.

6:25 p.m. – Police arrested a man for public drunkenness after a report from a Golden Gate Transit bus driver that the man was the only passenger on the bus and refused to get off at the final stop at East Blithedale Ave. and Kipling Drive.

7:30 p.m. – A resident of the 200 block of Molino Ave. reported being the victim of two separate cases of fraud, with two credit cards being charged a total of $6,100 fraudulently.

8:53 p.m. – A student at Tam High reported that an iPod Touch valued at $200 was stolen from her at school, and that the locator app indicated that the device was now on Cole Drive in Marin City.

Sept. 5

3:16 p.m. – An employee of Marin Auto Works on Miller Ave. reported that a customer had given the shop bad credit cards and tried to pass a bad check for large amounts of money. Police took a report.

6:44 p.m. – A student at Tam High reported that his Intense mountain bike, valued at $1,500, was stolen at the school. Police took a report.

Sept. 6

5:31 p.m. – A burglary occurred at a home in the 800 block of Seaver Drive, with someone breaking in, possibly through a back door, and stealing a cell phone and $600 in cash.

6:30 p.m. – Police received multiple complaints about loud music coming from downtown, determining that it was from the block party event at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. The event was permitted to run until 9 p.m. The same resident called back at 9:11 p.m., saying the music was still going and that she wanted to file a formal complaint.

9:35 p.m. – A resident reported hearing loud drumming and singing coming from the 2am Club on Miller Avenue, but when police went to the area, they heard neither drumming nor singing.

Sept. 7

1:31 p.m. – A large amount of prescription drugs were left on the front steps of the police station. Police disposed of them.

Sept. 8

6:44 p.m. – A resident was walking with her daughter on Ethel Ave. near Una Way when a neighbor’s dog came running toward them, according to a report. When the caller asked the dog owner to call the dog back, she didn’t, and as they walked away, the owner told the dog to “go get ‘em,” according to the resident.

7:40 p.m. – Someone vandalized a 2008 silver Ford pickup in the 100 block of Tamalpais Drive, putting several deep scratches in the driver side window of the car.

Sept. 14

5:59 p.m. – A black mountain bike was stolen from Tam High while its owner was watching the football game at the school. The bike lock had been cut, according to the report.

10:59 p.m. – A resident of Kite Hill Lane reported that a neighbor’s dog keeps wandering onto his property. Police were unable to locate the dog.

Sept. 15

4:06 a.m. – A resident of the 800 block of East Blithedale Ave. called to register a noise complaint, saying that a neighbor was being loud in the back yard. Police went to the home and found that two people were talking on the back patio. They agreed to go inside.

5:24 p.m. – A Eucalyptus Knoll resident reported that he went for a bike ride and returned three hours later to find that a window had been broken at his home. It was unclear if anyone had gotten inside the home, according to the report.

7:11 p.m. – Police were called to a home on Jacklyn Terrace on a report that two laptops were stolen, and the screen was missing off of a bedroom window.

Sept. 16

8:58 a.m. – A laptop, checkbook and several other items were stolen from the unlocked trunk of a car parked on Almonte Blvd. behind Tam High near the school’s bathrooms, according to a report.

2:08 p.m. – An iPad, iPod, earphones for each and a pair of eyeglasses were stolen from a home on Eucalyptus Knoll Street. There was no forced entry to the home as the burglars used a hide-a-key to gain access, police said.

4:39 p.m. – A burglary was reported at a home in the 400 block of East Blithedale Ave., and a laptop, two iPads and a digital camera were stolen from the house.

9:18 p.m. – A home in the 200 block of Sycamore Ave. was burglarized, with a brick being thrown through a window. It was unclear what had been stolen.
