Marin Blaze Probed As Arson Incident

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Police are investigating a San Rafael fire earlier this month as a suspected arson case, authorities said.

At around 11 p.m. on April 6 firefighters responded to an alarm at a commercial building on Bellam Boulevard, the San Rafael Fire Department said in a statement.

Crews upon arrival found that a restaurant had been broken into and a sprinkler system was activated, authorities said.

Flammable liquids were poured throughout the restaurant and then set ablaze, authorities said.
The fire sprinkler system extinguished the fire within a matter of seconds, authorities said.

Video surveillance showed a person committing an act of arson, authorities said.
The case has been referred to the San Rafael Police Department as an arson investigation, Battalion Chief Jason Hatfield told Patch.
