Eat and do good! The Marin Vegan Bake Sale and Veggie Grill are raising funds for a life-changing area nonprofit, the Marin Humane Society, all while sharing the joy of plant-based eating with attendees. The bake sale is one of many participating in the Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale, an international event that has raised close to $300,000 for a variety of worldwide causes in its first six years (2009-2014). Bakers use vegan options, eliminating animal-derived ingredients like the dairy and eggs commonly found in baked goods while keeping all the flavor.

A vegan cupcake might not seem like such a big deal, but choosing to prepare and eat plant-based foods is an extremely powerful way for citizens to protect animals, their own health, and the planet. With California in deep drought, many consumers are surprised to discover that not only can vegan baking and cooking be delicious but also that, according to National Geographic, eating vegan can save 600 gallons of water… a day.

This year’s bake sale takes place on Sunday, June 7 from 11:30am–2:30pm, generously hosted outside one of Marin County’s most welcome and tasty additions: Veggie Grill in the Corte Madera Town Center. Community members can support by purchasing baked goods, donating, and having lunch at Veggie Grill.

The Marin Vegan Bake Sale is a volunteer effort that is donating all moneys raised to the Marin Humane Society, an organization which offers refuge, rehabilitation, and support services to more than 10,000 domestic animals and wildlife each year through a myriad of community services.
