Mill Valley Councilwoman Steps Down, Accepts Washington Job
Councilwoman Jessica Jackson said she has accepted a new job in Washington, D.C. and cannot complete the final two years of her second term.
MILL VALLEY, CA — Mill Valley Councilmember Jessica Jackson is resigning effective Oct. 8, city officials announced Thursday.
Jackson said she has accepted a new job in Washington, D.C. and cannot complete the final two years of her second term. She was elected to the City Council in 2013.
"I consider myself incredibly lucky to not only have had an opportunity to grow up in our beautiful city, but to have also spent the last decade raising a family here amongst a loving community. I am grateful beyond words for the opportunity to have served the City of Mill Valley," Jackson said.

Mill Valley Mayor Jim Wickham said Jackson was an outstanding advocate in the community, and the city will miss her very thoughtful involvement and effective and respectful leadership.
Jackson's accomplishments include citywide paving improvements, multiple pedestrian and bicyclist projects and the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project.

Jackson also championed the creation of an affordable housing fund, the revision of zoning regulations to create accessory dwelling units and the formation of the Housing Advisory Committee.
"She has served our community with the utmost professionalism, dedication, commitment to inclusion and transparency and solid leadership for many years," city manager Jim McCann said.
