Mill Valley Police Equity Initiative Report Expected This Month

MILL VALLEY, CA — The Mill Valley Police Department is expected to issue a report later this month on progress it has made towards achieving racial equity, city officials said in a news release.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion reports from the City Manager, Recreation and Library Departments are expected in May, and from the Planning and Building Department on the topic of affordable housing in June.

The city has created a tracking tool to monitor the progress of this initiative.

Mill Valley established a DEI Task Force on June 15 of last year amid the nationwide explosion of Black Lives Matter protests.

The Task Force serves as an advisory body to the City Council and is assigned to review best practices and make specific recommendations, city officials said.

Later that month Mill Valley joined the Government Alliance on Race and Equity, a national network of local governments working towards advancing racial equity.
