Mill Valley Realtor Hits The Right Note

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Navigating one of the nation’s priciest real estate markets takes nerves of steel on the easiest of days.

Hitting the right notes at a jazz club takes a softer touch.

Neither endeavor is easy, but Audrey Moira Shimkas excels at both.

The Mill Valley-based Berkshire Hathaway broker by day soothes restless souls at night as a jazz vocalist and band leader.

“My signatures as a jazz musician are... Great vocals & the best musicians’ Fresh interpretations of American & Brazilian standards Unique arrangements of contemporary pop/rock tunes,” she wrote of her work on her Facebook page.

Shimkas will perform Saturday at 6 p.m. in San Rafael at Range Café at Peacock Gap Golf Club with keyboardist Greg Sankovich.

Shimkas said she likes to keep her real estate and musical orbits separate.

She is a busy realtor but is no less serious about her musical career. She performs regularly throughout the Bay Area and has released four CDs.

“Music is not just a hobby,” she told Patch. “I’m a jazz musician and a band leader and in real estate as a broker I am very active.”
