MILL VALLEY, CA — A Mill Valley man implicated in a college bribery scandal was sentenced Wednesday to three months in prison, the Associated Press reports.

The former private equity executive who cofounded an investment fund with U2’s Bono was among several high-profile figures ensnared in “Operation Varsity Blues,” a sting that laid bare tactics the wealthy use to buy their children into the nation’s best colleges.

McGlashan expressed remorse in a statement to the judge at a hearing held via teleconference according to the report.

“In a world where fairness is in short supply what I did is totally unacceptable,” McGlashan said.
