New Marin Co. Police Chief Named
Ryan Monaghan, a 27-year veteran of the San Mateo Police Department, will move to the North Bay.

TIBURON, CA — Ryan Monaghan, a lieutenant at the San Mateo Police Department, was named the next police chief of Tiburon.
The city of San Mateo and the town of Tiburon announced the move in separate news releases on Thursday morning. Monaghan, a 27-year veteran of the San Mateo Police Department, begins in Tiburon on April 5.
“I am thrilled to welcome Ryan as a member of the management team here in Tiburon,” Tiburon Town Manager Greg Chanis said in a news release. “His collaborative approach and demonstrated commitment to creating meaningful community engagement really set him apart from other candidates.”

Monaghan, a longtime Bay Area resident, began serving as an officer in 1994 in San Mateo, earning promotions to sergeant in 2006 and lieutenant in 2014, according to a news release.
In a news release, Monaghan said that he is excited to begin working in Tiburon.

“I look forward to meeting and working with the engaged community members, our town leaders, allied agencies, and especially all our town employees who are committed to providing the highest levels of service to everyone who lives, works, and visits the town of Tiburon,” Monaghan said.
