Officers Bring Suspect to Ground in Blithedale Traffic

Driver pulled over for false registration found to have number of outstanding warrants and attempts to flee into traffic.

Mill Valley police officers were forced to bring a suspect to the ground when he tried to avoid arrest and run into traffic on Blithedale Road, at Kipling Drive, on Friday evening, Feb. 24.

According to officers, Ladislao DeLeon, 31, of Richmond, was pulled over for false registration at 5:30 p.m.

Along with having a suspended license, DeLeon was found to have a number of outstanding warrants throughout Marin County. The warrants, which officers said were very old, included burglary, recieving known stolen property, taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Officers said when they went to arrest DeLeon, he attempted to resist arrest and run into traffic. Another officer stopped DeLeon, who struggled as he was put into handcuffs and was forced to the ground in the middle of commuter traffic.

He is being held in the county jail on $75,000 bail for the various charges.
