Pop-Up COVID-19 Testing Sites Launch In Marin County

The county has expanded its partnership with a COVID-19 testing company to provide additional free, self-administered, oral swab tests.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — The County of Marin has expanded its partnership with the COVID-19 testing company Curative to provide additional self-administered, oral swab tests for community members.

The county previously announced six testing sites in Bolinas, Larkspur, Novato, San Anselmo, San Geronimo and Sausalito with testing that started as early as Dec. 21. A seventh site is set to open Wednesday in San Rafael.

The new San Rafael testing site will be located at the Armory parking lot along Civic Center Drive in San Rafael. Curative has also expanded the operating hours of its San Geronimo testing location, which was moved to the San Geronimo Golf Course.

"Curative is thrilled to partner with Marin County to bring more free, accessible, and convenient COVID-19 testing to the North Bay," said Shoshana Gould, Curative's Partnerships Manager for the Bay Area.

"We are looking forward to fully-launching this week and keeping everyone safe and healthy with our mobile van unit and drive through in San Rafael. Marin County is the 6th county in the Bay Area with Curative-run testing, following San Mateo, San Francisco, Alameda, Sonoma, and Santa Clara."

Testing is free at all Curative testing sites. Appointments are required and can be scheduled at the Curative website. Appointment slots open about three to four days in advance of each scheduled testing day, according to the county.

The county released an updated Curative testing schedule:

  • Bolinas: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays at the Bolinas Fire Station at 100 Mesa Road
  • Larkspur: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays starting Jan. 7 at Piper Park at 250 Doherty Drive:
  • Novato: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays starting Jan. 8 at the Novato Library at 1720 Novato Blvd.
  • San Anselmo: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays at United Market at 100 Red Hill Ave.
  • San Geronimo: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays at the San Geronimo Golf Course parking lot at 5800 Sir Francis Drake Blvd.
  • San Rafael: Mondays and Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays and Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Jan. 6 at the Armory parking lot on Armory Drive)
  • Sausalito: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays starting Jan. 6 at Sausalito City Hall at 420 Litho St.
