Tam District Promotes 2 Administrators

SAN ANSELMO, CA —Archie Williams High School’s principal has a new role, and the local school district has announced her interim replacement.

The Tamalpais Union High School District announced Monday Liz Seabury’s selection to a temporary role as Senior Director of Inclusion, Instruction and Intervention, pending board approval.

This Principal on Special Assignment role is specific to learning loss mitigation due to the response to COVID 19.

The POSA will work directly with the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Dr. Kimberlee Armstrong.

LaSandra White, currently an assistant principal at Redwood High School, has been selected as her replacement at the newly renamed school.

White will serve as Archie Williams High’s first interim principal. The school formerly known as Drake High changed its name earlier this month amid a national reckoning over racial justice in the aftermath of George Floyd’s killing by a Minneapolis police officer.

The high school had been named after a 16th century slave trader.

Seabury and White will assume their new roles July 1 pending board approval, district officials said.

Their appointments were scheduled to go before the board Tuesday.

Seabury has served as a Tam District for nine years and has 19 years of educational leadership experience. She recently completed her doctorate in education leadership from USC.

“The job of Principal of Drake/HS 1327/Archie Williams has been the most amazing experience,” Seabury said in a statement.

“The students, staff and parents are the best and I am honored to work with them all. Ms. White is an outstanding leader and Archie Williams High School is fortunate to have her lead us into the next chapter!”

White has served as Redwood’s assistant principal for 18 years and has worked in the field of education for 25 years.

“After spending 25 years in this great district, I am ready to move into the role of Principal, and I am excited and honored to be the Archie Williams High School Principal,” White said in a statement.

“I look forward to getting to know and building strong relationships with the students, staff, parents and community partners in the Archie Williams community.

“I also look forward to continuing the great work around equity, restorative practices and providing an inclusive, supportive and safe environment so that all students can thrive academically and social-emotionally.”

Ms. White started her career in education and adolescent mental health in 1996, as an academic support teacher at Redwood. The following year, she transitioned to the role of School Counselor, supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of students

“I am very excited for the opportunity to build an intervention team specific to supporting students to overcome the impacts of COVID 19 on their learning,” TUHSD Superintendent Tara Taupier said in a statement.

“We are so fortunate to have strong, talented leaders within our ranks who can step into different positions and who are willing to take on new challenges. Dr. Seabury and Ms. White are strong leaders and advocates for students.”
